Banat Opinyon

Ang demokrasya maoy midaug sa niaging eleksiyon

IYO ANTOY - Antolin dela Serna - Banat

.“Peaceful elections ultimately meant a victory for the Filipino people.

Giingon dinhi, “The 2025 midterm elections produced surprise victories that defied projections, with former senators Bam Aquino and Kiko Pangilinan securing Senate seats despite lagging in pre-election surveys.”

“Several candidates—mostly independents and those affiliated with progressive groups—received a higher share of total votes than their pre-election survey standings indicated,” nagkanayon ang Pulse Asia.

Why did underdogs defy expectations? Tubag ni Cleve Arguelles, usa ka political scientist, presidente ug CEO sa WR Numero Research, “Surveys are not meant to predict or dictate election outcomes. Numerous factors—campaign resources, political networks, and voter context—shape results.

“The evolving media landscape, traditional TV viewership has declined, while digital platforms have gained dominance, possibly disrupting the tried and tested political strategies.”

Dugang niini, giingon nga ‘six in ten are millennials,” sa ato pa, mga batan-on nga lahi na og panan-aw sa niaging generations. Anaa sila sa Facebook, YouTube, ug TikTok, nga nagbaton og independent nga mga panghunahuna.

Pananglitan, sila si Mendoza ug independent bet Col. Bosita, adunay sizable nga following sa social media. Nausab na karon ang media landscape.

By the way, unsa man kining mga underdogs? Matud sa google: “Underdogs are individuals or groups who are at a disadvantage in competitive situations or predicted to fail in competition against rivals.”
