Late charge nets Harmie ICTSI Apo crown

MANILA, Philippines — Harmie Constantino overcame a two-shot deficit with three straight birdies from No. 5, closed with a 3-under 69 and won the season-ending Ladies Philippine Golf Tour event by two at Apo Golf Club course yesterday.
Constantino finished at 1-under 213 to beat Korean Kim Seoyun, who faltered with a 73 for a 215 total. It was Constantino’s second win of the season after Caliraya Springs and worth P162,500.
The victory came after Constantino admitted this week that the long grind had drained her motivation.
“I just tried to fight through it. I saw that I was hitting it well and I had a good chance,” Constantino said. “I just stayed very, very patient. I didn’t force a lot of shots.”
Constantino started the final round two shots behind co-leaders Kim and Chanelle Avaricio.
Yvon Bisera rallied to a share of third with a 71 and the shot of the day – a hole-in-one on the 165-yard 17th hole with a pitching wedge – to win P20,000 from organizer Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc.
Meanwhile, Micah Shin came away with a 67 to seize firm control of the ICTSI Apo Golf Classic and move within one round of capping his Philippine Golf Tour campaign with another victory at Apo.
