2 dead in Ecija road accident

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines — Two people died while six others were injured when a bus of the Baliwag Transit Inc. crashed into a tree in Rizal, Nueva Ecija on Friday.

Alexander Villajuan and Genelyn Carbon were declared dead on arrival in a nearby hospital where the injured victims – identified only as Alendra, Alexies, Carnillo, Clayden, Mildred and Relyn – were also rushed for treatment.

The victims were traveling in Barangay Aglipay at around 4 a.m. when they figured in the accident, according to Brig. Gen. Jess Mendez, Central Luzon police director.

Probers said the bus driver, Norman Labrador, reportedly lost control of the wheel.

Labrador was taken to the police station for questioning.
