BI: Over 186,000 travelers used Philippines airports on Christmas
MANILA, Philippines — A total of 186,193 travelers flocked to airports for their travels on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported.
In its report, the BI said 52,437 people entered the country while 41,895 others left using the Philippine airports on Christmas Eve.
On Christmas Day, the BI recorded 47,669 arrivals and 44,192 departures.
“The number of travelers processed by immigration officers over the two days remained consistent with figures recorded during the same period last year, reflecting a steady recovery of international travel,” BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said.
The total figure was higher than the BI’s earlier projection of 110,000 arriving and departing passengers.
Viado said the BI expects more people traveling by air to and from the Philippines to welcome the New Year.
He reminded passengers to “arrive early at airports and complete their pre-departure and arrival requirements to help ease the processing flow during the busy holiday period.”
