Arrogant Jaguars

Sen. Bong Revilla and Gov. Gwen Garcia are being paired this early for the presidential race in 2016. That’s a good six years away. Meanwhile, as we wait for that moment, how about pairing Bong and Gwen in a movie?

The Sinulog Foundation is said to be eyeing a robotics theme in next year’s Sinulog. That would be nice. You know, there are some robots around. They would be honored by the theme.

New Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma said in a homily that there is a need for people to cooperate with one another in order to achieve peace and progress.

After saying that people need people, the good archbishop said: “The city needs the province and the province needs the city.” If it was not during a Eucharistic celebration, the statement would have won for His Eminence a standing ovation.

Everytime a President comes around for a special event, a battalion of PSG (Presidential Security Group) Jaguars tag along. The atmosphere is always peaceful and orderly until these Jaguars (OK, Guarja) show up and make their presence felt. It happens every time.

Many members of the local media have complained against what they describe as the arrogance of the PSG personnel. When P.Noy came for the Sinulog they ordered that no ballpen should be allowed in the festival venue. They still believe the ballpen is mightier than the sword?

Someone has been heard saying: “Why complain against the arrogance of the PSG guards? You’re only doing them a favor. You see, the more you hit them for their arrogance, the higher their ratings would be. They are paid to be like that.”

A foreigner from Boracay has come up with an iron-fisted complaint against the abusive taxi drivers at the waterfront area. Many local travelers and the press have time and again called the attention of the LTFRB, LTO, CITOM, etc. to these “shame” of Cebu City but they prefer not to listen, let alone take proper action.

Now here’s one outspoken foreigner who has complained about these abusive taxi drivers (see, TF Opinion Section, Jan. 19/11). He did not only express his anger, he has also practically called on the people to the world to never come to Cebu.

Look what the LTFRB, LTO and CITOM’s inaction on the people’s complaint against these abusive cabbies has done to our tourism industry.
