PRIDE OF THE POOR? A reader said that he agrees with the column of this paper’s publisher, Sir Juanito Jabat, that most children nowadays do not anymore have the sense of gratitude. He said that he, in his own small way, give whatever he can to the less fortunate in his neighborhood. He said that he never heard anyone say, “Salamat or thank you” whenever these people received his donations. He said, “Nawala na gyud na ang pag-ingon og salamat. Ang mga kabus karon, mora’g feeling nila, we have an obligation to give to them. Mao ba na siya ang giingon nga ‘Pride of the Poor’?”
FOUNDATION EXPERIENCE. Volunteers of The Freeman Foundation distributed about 200 food packs and gifts to children in Lapu-Lapu recently. Of the 200 children who received the donations, only a handful managed to say “Salamat”. When a female volunteer would tell the children, “Unsa gani to ang isulti kung naay mohatag nato?” But the kids would only stare blankly up at her.
