JUST FOR KICKS. A UP-Diliman political analyst said on TV that some of those running in the 2010 elections do so just for kicks. This reminds us of a newsman who ran for a local post not to win but just to find out how many friends he had in the community. He lost but was happy when he got more than 20 votes. “At least,” he said, “duna koy klarong 20 ka tinuod nga higala.”
VOTES REDUCED. The same newsman ran again in the next councilorial election expecting to get a much bigger number of votes. But he got only 11 votes. He felt distraught and asked himself. “Hain naman tong kapin sa 20 kong mga higala?” His wife reminded him of the saying: “There are no permanent friends ...” He never ran again.
