3 million LPG tanks condemned but still in use

I heard that people in Capiz approve of Korina Sanchez as nobya of their boy, Mar Roxas. The yell in Capiz these days is "Kori, Kori, Kori!"

A pastor in a Manila church is in hot water. He was seen coming out of Pasay City motel with a woman in tow. He forgot the 11th commandment: Thou shalt not be caught.

A transport group is seeking additional fare hike. I thought after the last fare hike it was already fare-well to more fare hikes.

My sister gifted me for my birthday last June with a book by Fr. Jerry M. Orbos, SVD. The title is "Just a Moment." Good book. I read it every moment that I have to spare.

Yesterday when I read in the papers about the opposition blaming GMA for all the problems of the nation and the administration tossing back the blame on the opposition, I remember something I read in Fr. Jerry's book about people blaming other people.

Fr. Jerry quoted a wise Chinese saying: "He who blames others has a long way to go on his journey. He who blames himself is halfway there. He who blames no one has arrived."

A leaking LPG tank reportedly caused a big fire in Manila. Sen. Mar Roxas has advised everyone to beware of LPG tanks that are no longer fit for use. A million tanks!

* * *

According to Raul Concepcion, chairman of the Consumer and Oil Price Watch (COPW), not just a million but 3 million of these tanks are still in use. Pray you don’t get one of them, so also your neighbor.

These 3 million defective LPG tanks, which have been condemned as scrap, are said to be still in use. It behooves the government agency concerned to do something and have these ferreted out and brought to the junk yard.

I got an e-mail from Nick Dumandan, who used to hang out nights at old The FREEMAN office under the kulo tree on Manalili (now V. Gullas) St. He has been in the US for 30 years or so now working as auto mechanic. "I discovered your online edition only last week ug sukad sa akong discovery sige na ko basa sa atong newspaper," Nick said.

Nick was a jobless young man when he spent nights in our old office. All of a sudden he "disappeared" and it was only the other day that I knew he's now in the US enjoying a good life. To Nick: Do keep reading us in the Net. One way of renewing old friendship.
