A bishop said GMA should swallow her pride and make peace with the Aquinos. There's nothing wrong about swallowing one's pride. As one Banat News sugilanon writer said: "Dili na maka-impatso."

Winston Churchill also made a similar statement: "I ate my words many times and swallowed my pride and never got indigestion."

Sen. Gringo Honasan, who led the bloody coups against President Cory Aquino, has condoled with the Aquino family. Condoling is different from apologizing which Gringo also needed to do but did not.

Sen. Noynoy Aquino said after Press Secretary Cerge Remonde apologized in connection with the removal of the two security escorts for Cory: "I understand Secretary Remonde has a job to do and I do not consider him as one of less desirable in the cabinet."
* * *
Is that statement by Noynoy something for Cerge to give a thumbs up or thumbs down? But it's clear that Noynoy understands Cerge's job as praise, er, press secretary.

The proverbial sea of humanity that gathered along the streets of Makati to pay tribute to former President Cory as her remains were transferred from Greenhills to the Manila Cathedral proved we are a grateful people to someone who did us good.

"Thank you, Tita Cory!" and "Maraming Salamat, Tita Cory!" were heard and seen (in tarp streamers and placards) all over the funeral procession route. "Thank you" and "Salamat" for what? What else but for her bringing back freedom and democracy to our land which the dictator had demolished.

There are many other things the Filipino people are — or should be — grateful to Cory... She gave us a kind of leadership devoid of or untainted with graft and corruption. This even her critics could not deny.

One image-builder of a political block bitterly critical of Cory and her administration told me (after Cory has completed her term): "Sa tutuo lang, I tried to find something to use to destroy Mrs. Aquino's image but failed."

Thanks to Carla Mayol for her e-mail commenting on another reader's comment on Mayor Tom O's decision to ban non-city residents to avail themselves of the services at the CCMC. The other reader is Marie Quibralta of New Jersey who said Hizzoner is wrong for banning non-city patients. Carla agreed with her.
