Who hasn't told a lie?

Thanks to all those who remembered me on St. John the Baptist’s feast day. God bless you all.

One card I received (from my niece Malou in LA) called me a “masterpiece of God” based on Psalm 189. It’s said…

* * *

"You are God’s handcrafted work of art. You are not an assembly-line product, mass produced without a thought. You are a custom-designed one-of-a-kind, original masterpiece.”

A lawmaker, during a heated debate with a peer, said: “All I can assure you is that I have never told a lie in my life.”

Reminds me again of a contestant in the Liars Contest sponsored by the International Liars Club in London. He won the championship by simply saying: “I never told a lie in all my life.”

* * *

My friend Teddy H. said he would vote for the presidential bet who could face the miraculous image of Sr. Sto. Niño at the Basilica and say: “Blessed Sto. Niño I never told a lie.”

Many years ago, I wrote an article in the pre-martial law Philippines Free Press entitled: “It’s the Season of Lies and Promises.” It was an election year. One candidate, a good friend of mine, said to me on the phone: “Ayaw’g saba. Nit, ha. Tinuod gyud na… Pero kinahanglan man gyud na…Unsaon ta pagdaug kun di ta mamakak?” I could only reply: “Ana ba diay na?”

Madam Imelda M. has been quoted in the press as saying that she is now impoverished. She is the only “impoverished” person with a 22-carat diamond ring in her finger. And the only “impoverished” woman who lives in a swank two-story penthouse,” according to the Associated Press.

And here’s Erap, too. He aligns himself with the poor “masa,” where his political strength comes from, because he too has become poor. Yet, my favorite broadsheet reports that he has just bought two brand-new King Air turbo-prop aircraft.

* * *

See? Erap bought only two King Air aircraft. Only two. If he were rich, he would’ve bought three or four, right? Hehe.

E-mail from a high school student (“please don’t print my name and e-mail add,” she says): “Thanks to Senator Juan Ponce Enrile for fighting against cellphone networks nga mangawat og load. Usa ko sa mga biktima, Sir.”
