The cops involved in the manhandling of Ted Failon and members of his family (as shown on tv) will be investigated. By whom? By the cops. I heard someone say that when a man tries himself, the verdict is in his favor.

"Mamang Pulis what have you done that all the highly respected and credible columnists in Manila are ganging up on you and tearing you apart?"

"Mamang Pulis behave. Although it's now too late. You've made Ted Failon a hero. Because you tried to make yourself the hero."

The preceding two paragraphs are culled from the e-mail sent to me by Ramon Lizarde who said he was "terrified" and "horrified" by the behavior of the cops who arrested Ted Failon and members of his household.

Earth Day was celebrated last April 22. It was supposed to be an important occasion as it brought to the fore the need for us to handle the earth with care. But it was no earth-shaking affair. Many of us earthmen didn't know about it.

A college student from my barangay when asked by his teacher (my friend) what he could say about the Earth Day celebration, replied: "What day, Sir?"

Another e-mail (most welcome) I received this week came from Bennette Misalucha Evangelista in Hawaii. Bennette used to be a high-profile media personality in Cebu, specializing in television (ABS-CBN). She had a brief stint with The Freeman. Bennette is married to a lawyer and now has two grownup children (22 and 17). Both are schooling in a university in the US mainland.

Thank you, Bennette, for remembering. You said you're getting old. Haha! Everyone's getting old. That's why the beauty clinics here are raking in lots of money ironing out the wrinkles and erasing the age spots of women who still insist they're girls. Best regards to Attorney Evangelista and to the children.

My good friend Dr. Guido Magdadaro (who probably is also your friend) has gotten deeply involved in the academe. He runs the fast-rising Cebu Sacred Heart College (plus two others) in Lawaan, Talisay City.
* * *
Guido has organized the Twin Hearts Foundation which grants scholarships to deserving students. More than P8 million have been set aside for the scholarship program where P100,000 to P200,000 will be granted each scholar for the whole course he or she would choose to pursue. For more info, one may contact Dr. Aguido A. Magdadaro, foundation president, CP No. 0915-7588236.
