Letter to the editor: No more sidewalk for pedestrians

Passing through Colon street, and almost everywhere, teeming with people from all walks of life, we observed that pedestrians and sidewalk vendors are crowding or overflowing to the streets.

It is a big risk to life and limbs to be plowed down by vehicles rushing to pick up passengers or get through before the stop light.

Can we assign a certain portion say, each corner where jeepneys can stop to pick up passengers or pedestrian waiting for a ride? A few vendors can be given a small area to sell their wares (limited area).

If we cannot control them, join them but with safety measures as our guide. Totally no more side walk for our people.

The public deserve a clean side walk to "walk safely" and vendors need an assigned place to earn their daily bread.

Observe other Asian countries, you walk safely in a wide "sidewalk," clean and free from obstructions.

Our city government must observe this safety measures for our public to enjoy a real sidewalk. - Beling Go Ching Hai
