My young friends Ted and Thelma had their pretty twins baptized recently. Ted showed me a picture of the babies and I said: "Wow, nice job, Ted." Thelma, a bubbly 30-ager, snapped: "It's an inside job, Sir Nitz." It took me some seconds to get the joke.

Hehehe! All of us are products of inside jobs by our Papa and Mama. This is a fact, I have just realized, no one can dispute. Right, Thelma? Inside the kulambo. Right, Ted?

The Spanish cage team is in hot water for their so-called "slit-eye" photo. Oh, c'mon. The Spaniards could just be envious of the Chinese because they don't have those beautiful slit-eyes. Me, I find a woman with slit or chinky eyes beautiful.

Many fans of Manny Pacquiao heaved a sigh of relief after the Pacman announced he's not pushing through with his intention to fight Oscar de la Hoya. Some of them had thought that the battering he got on his head made their idol think of fighting the bigger, the taller, and the more experienced De la Hoya.
* * *
But it seems that money, not his fear of De la Hoya or his concern for his safety, is the reason why he backed out from the fight with Oscar. The split of the windfall wasn't to his liking. He wanted more.

I agree with my favorite matrimonial godson NLQ. There are still medals to hope for in Beijing. Don't forget that our two taekwondo jins -- Mary Antoinette Rivero and Tshomlee Go -- are still to fight for medals on Aug. 22. They're no so-so jins. They can prevent a medal shutout for RP.

Long before the start of the Beijing Olympics, while most people including the so-called sports experts were pinning their medal hopes on the boxers, I said that our best medal bets are the taekwondo jins. And a reader who disagreed emailed: "Oh, yeah? You can't even spell taekwondo correctly." I didn't argue. My spelling was wrong but, honest, it was a typo error. But what has my wrong spelling of Taekwondo got to do with my prediction that our jins could bring home the medals?

Newsfotog Loy Jurado is thinking of expanding his "Say thank you" campaign nationwide. He's asking a congressman friend to sponsor a resolution enjoining the DepEd to encourage schoolkids to say "Thank you." Loy says he felt the need to expand his campaign after he learned that when a radio station brought relief goods to a flood-stricken province, no one ever said "Thank you."

Media colleague Art Abregonde is also pushing through with his "Smile" campaign in tandem with Loy Jurado's "Say thank you" project. He says he wants to change the world's attitude towards the crisis we're facing. "Let's smile amid this crisis even if the world wonders why," Art says.

Email from a reader who gave his name only as Ondo: "Pinoys in San Jose, Calif, are asking one another what got into the head of Mrs. Arroyo that she wants to give the Muslim rebels a large slice of Mindanao just to bring peace to the region. What peace is she talking about? These Muslim rebels are terrorists and don't know what peace is. Next time, you people there should elect a leader who was not born yesterday."

Ondo must be a Cebuano. If he happens to be, I say to him "Daghang salamat" for speaking up on the scuttled Government-MILF peace process through this space. Please extend my best regards to my many Cebuano friends in San Jose, among them Dr. Sal and Mrs. Fe Lim, and eskrimador Cacoy Cañete who is known out there was Chuck. BOBIT SAYS: "A person like you with a very good heart is a gift from God. So on wings of prayer, I whispered my thanks to God and asked him to bless you in countless ways. Good morning."
