I got this (again) from someone who kept on reminding me about my, to quote him, "great stint on earth." Whatever that means, I say thanks. "Great things that older people have said about getting old," this someone says ...

"The great thing about being 70 is that you appreciate 25-year-old girls more." - Anonymous

Seriously now, the height requirement for women wishing to become a member of the police force is 5-foot-2. Shorter than that, say 5-foot-1, is no-no. Even if that is still taller than the height of the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces who is 4-foot-11.

When asked what she wanted the government to do with the killers of the l4 Marines, the widow of one of the slain Marines said without batting an eyelash: "Do to them what they did to my husband and his comrades." In the Bible this means "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth." That's equal justice. Fair and square.

I sometimes hear my Tagalog friends say, "Sabi ko na ba, eh." Now, let me say this to my Tagalog friends. I told you so. You see, some columns back I said it would be impossible for the government to serve the warrants of arrest to the 130 identified MILF and Abu Sayyaf killers in Basilan. Well, that's exactly what happened.

The reported hundreds of policemen who were tasked to serve the warrants returned to base with not a single warrant served. The killers could not be found. In one hut where one suspect (killer, yes) was said to live, the policemen found only a skinny dog and some cockroaches.

As for the stoppage of the "massive military offensive" against the MILF bandits and Abu Sayyaf terrorists, there's no telling when this would push through. As Federico Pascual Jr., one of my favorite Philippine STAR columnists, said: "President Arroyo is afraid of the Moro terrorists."
