Well, Tita Cory may be a naively hardnosed and repetitive nagger in appealing - "I'm not demanding", she insists - for GMA's "supreme sacrifice" to step down. But one isn't sold to such fish tale that she's capable of scheming to oust GMA "physically", as in "assassination".
On Drilon, he may look mean and pugnacious, but as Pimentel's left-handed disclaimer runs: "Drilon may be a bad man in so many ways but he is not one to plot the assassination of any president". As Secretary Bunye put it though, "Drilon set up GMA!"
And so, was firebrand Maid Miriam talking through her hat or just running a streak of careless irresponsibility in publicly denouncing a cabal that may turn out to be a fluke?
Citing the "clear and present danger" mantra and her bounden duty to reveal vital info of national interest, and life of the head of state no less, the feisty solon did come out openly about a relative of Senator Drilon yapping on the sinister ides of October GMA plot. In fact, Speaker Jose de Venecia and DOJ Secretary Raul Gonzalez also had similar intelligence input, although the latter's info centered on "abduction" of the president.
Claiming her three sources as "impeccable", the senator qualified that Drilon's relative could possibly be playing a "little psychological game". On Tita Cory, Santiago accused her of "collaborating with Drilon to use the Senate through a series of inquiries" to remove GMA.
In her follow-up privilege speech lambasting house members who criticized her dire revelation, Santiago also minced no words in castigating her Senate colleagues for their "purposive serial impeachment" of GMA on rehashed impeachment charges.
Perceiving Tita Cory's obvious persona to be incapable of hurting a fly, many are impervious to such extreme political deviltry. There are those condemning her for taking unfair advantage of her influence with the church in "appealing" for GMA's "supreme sacrifice" by using the church altar as her venue, and the holy mass as her forum. But, doing GMA in "physically" is the height of impossibility! It's so so un-Cory!
Tita Cory may have the impish obstinacy in her continuing call on GMA to step down, nonetheless, let's credit that to some altruistic motives. As for the Hacienda Luisita connection which Senator Santiago suspects as a motivation, Cory's Christian personality is too strong to be so demonized by material greed.
As for Drilon, he also doesn't need the devil's advocate to defend him against such sinister plan on GMA's "termination".
Probably, he isn't allergic at all should GMA be ousted by coup d'etat, but as to "assassination", it's quite too extreme an ill wish!
With the accumulation of chaotic decibels of charges and counter-charges played up at every turn by media, particularly ABS-CBN that stokes embers of intrigue in its tv programs, there's no let-up to the volcanic volatility for violence and catastrophe.
For the last three months or so, the nation has been psyched out to the nth degree for dire developments, such that, the discerning and the sensitive are on the verge of being virtual paranoids.
The nation may become psychosomatic victims of instability, may God forbid!
Psychologically, the discreet and safe attitude could be hiding inside a detached cocoon of the proverbial "que sera sera".
Whatever will be, will be. But that's easier said than done.
