MANILA, Philippines - Three-time Olympic weightlifter Rodrigo Del Rosario, who had the distinction as the only Filipino to have set an Olympic record with his feat in 1952 in Helsinki, passed away Oct. 10.
His remains lie in state at the Funeraria Floresco at 1659 Pedro Gil St., Paco with cremation slated tomorrow.
Del Rosario made the Olympic feat in 1952 in Helsinki where he cleared 105 kgs in the press event in the featherweight class, breaking the 100-kg mark set in London in 1948. He went on to finish fourth overall, improving his fifth place finish in London. He would later compete in his third Olympiad in Melbourne in 1956.
