Olongapo bet crowned Ms. Philippines-Earth

MANILA, Philippines - Twenty-five-year-old marketing officer Miss Olongapo City Angelee de los Reyes is this year’s Miss Philippines-Earth.

“A good heart to take care of the environment for ourselves and future generations is a must,” De los Reyes said when asked what she would add to the criteria to pick a beauty pageant winner, a report on yahoo.com.ph said.

The other winners are Kimverlyn Suiza of Nagcarlan, Laguna, who was crowned Miss Philippines Air; Nancy Leonard of Zamboanga City, Miss Philippines Water; Alma Cabasal of Fil. West Coast, USA, Miss Philippines Fire; and Bernadette Mae Aguirre of Sta. Maria, Bulacan, Miss Philippines Eco-Tourism.

Forty-seven candidates competed in the pageant, which celebrates the United Nations’ declaration of 2013 as International Year of Water Cooperation.

De los Reyes succeeds Ms. Philippines Earth 2012 Stephany Dianne Stefanowitz. She will represent the country to the Miss Earth pageant in November.

She will also serve as ambassador to environmental protection campaigns in the country.

Commissioner Naderev Sao, undersecretary of the Commission on Climate Change; Josef Rychtar, ambassador of the Czech Republic; television host Iya Villania; and award winning producer Michael Carandang were among the judges.

Miss Philippines-Earth has championed the promotion of a better and cleaner environment for the past 12 years.
