Top cop loses bike to thieves

A quick job it was, victimizing a top police official.

Director Edgar Aglipay, head of the Philippine National Police (PNP) directorate for operations, lost over the weekend his "big bike" to robbers in Cubao, Quezon City.

SPO1 Romeo Perez, Aglipay’s back-up security officer, parked the Kawasaki 450-cc. motorcycle between 12th and 13th Avenues in Murphy, Cubao at 2 p.m. Sunday to have his shoes repaired at a Mr. Quickie branch.

However, upon his return 10 minutes later, Perez said the "big bike" with license plate RF 3331 was no longer in its parking space.

Aglipay, former head of the Metro Manila police, reported the crime like any ordinary citizen at the Cubao police station.

A flash alarm was dispatched all over Metro Manila and nearby provinces for the police official’s missing motorcycle.

A few hours later, Pasig City police intercepted a stolen motorcycle at a checkpoint along Marcos Highway. However, city police chief Superintendent John Sosito said the recovered motorcycle was a Yamaha 400cc and not Aglipay’s "big bike."

The motorcycle’s unidentified driver remained unconscious at the Rizal Medical center for head injuries after the vehicle skidded to the pavement following a brief chase with Sosito’s men detailed at the Commission on Elections checkpoint.

A verification with the Land Transportation Office showed that the Yamaha with plate number RP-5634 was registered to one Carlito Carlos of Sta. Ana Extension, Marikina City.
