MISAMIS ORIENTAL , Philippines – A Grade 5 student was caught carrying a handgun at a school in Opol, Misamis Oriental on Wednesday.

Reports said a .22-caliber revolver was found in the bag of the 12-year-old student.

A classmate saw the handle of the gun protruding from the bag of the suspect. He immediately reported the matter to a barangay kagawad, who confiscated the firearm.

The student reportedly admitted bringing the gun to school, although he did not reveal the reason.

Probers have yet to determine how the minor came into possession of the firearm.
