111,582 cops ready for Undas

MANILA, Philippines — Up to 111,582 police personnel and force multipliers will be deployed to 5,628 cemeteries and columbaria on All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days.

Philippine National Police (PNP) records show that over 14 million people visited cemeteries during last year’s Undas.

At a forum yesterday, acting PNP directorate for operations executive officer Col. Amante Daro said police visibility would be intensified at transport hubs, bus terminals and major thoroughfares.

The deployment figure includes 11,782 personnel from PNP units and 31,814 force multipliers.

Police assistance desks will be set up in cemeteries.

Residential communities will be monitored to prevent burglaries while more patrols are expected at tourist spots, malls and resorts.
