MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has revoked the driver’s license of a motorcycle rider involved in a hit-and-run of a person with disability (PWD) in Caloocan.

The rider fled the scene after the accident, which occurred at the corner of Langit Road and Kagitingan street in Barangay 176-B on Sept. 20.

Apart from the license revocation, the rider is disqualified from obtaining any type of driver’s license for two years.

Based on evidence and documents gathered regarding the incident, the LTO found sufficient grounds to hold the rider liable.

Investigation showed that the rider struck a PWD who was crossing the street.

The rider was found liable for reckless driving, failure to perform the duty of a driver in case of an accident and being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.

“In incidents like this, it must be clear that every motorist bears responsibility for their actions on the road. It is not enough to simply pause briefly after an incident and then leave,” LTO chief Markus Lacalinao said. “Every driver should ensure the safety of other road users.”

The license plate of the motorcycle remains flagged in the LTO system.
