P10.5 million illegal cigarettes seized in Zamboanga
The contraband was found in a closed van, which was pulled over by members of the local police and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group at a checkpoint in Barangay Culianan.

MANILA, Philippines — Suspected smuggled cigarettes valued at P10.53 million were seized in Zamboanga City on Monday night.

The contraband was found in a closed van, which was pulled over by members of the local police and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group at a checkpoint in Barangay Culianan.

Police said the van driver was arrested after he failed to show documents for the transport of 180 master cases of untaxed cigarettes found in his vehicle.

The contraband was turned over to the Bureau of Customs for proper disposition.
