P18.4M in drugs seized last month

CEBU, Philippines — The Police Regional Office-7 (PRO-7) seized more than ?18.4 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 725 drug suspects in 661 separate operations across Central Visayas in September 2026.
Based on PRO-7’s latest accomplishment report, the 661 operations included buy-bust operations, the implementation of search warrants and warrants of arrest, and police responses to drug-related incidents.
The operations resulted in the arrest of 725 suspects, including individuals listed on the drug watchlist and newly-identified drug personalities.
More than two kilograms of shabu, or methamphetamine hydrochloride, valued at ?14,994,884 were confiscated during the operations.
Police also seized dried marijuana leaves and sticks worth ?3,422,156.
The total value of the illegal drugs confiscated by PRO-7 during the month reached ?18,417,040.
Following the operations, authorities filed appropriate cases against the arrested suspects for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and other applicable laws.
PRO-7 said it will continue its anti-drug operations in coordination with other law enforcement agencies and stakeholders to strengthen the region’s efforts against illegal drugs.
The regional police office said its anti-drug efforts are aimed at protecting communities, preventing the spread of illegal drugs, and contributing to safer and more resilient communities across Central Visayas. — (FREEMAN)
