Lapu-Lapu City residents get livelihood aid

CEBU, Philippines — A total of 96 qualified residents of Lapu-Lapu City received ?480,000 in livelihood financial assistance from the city government to start or expand small income-generating activities.

Each beneficiary received ?5,000 under the Sustainable Livelihood Assistance Program of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

The financial assistance is intended to help residents establish or strengthen micro-enterprises and improve their capacity to generate income.

The latest batch of beneficiaries came from 14 barangays across the mainland and island sectors of Lapu-Lapu City.

The assistance was distributed on Friday, September 11, through the CSWDO.

Barangay Pusok recorded the highest number of beneficiaries with 23 recipients.

Bankal and Basak followed with 14 beneficiaries each, while 12 residents from Maribago also received the livelihood grant.

Other participating barangays were Agus with seven beneficiaries, Marigondon with six, Babag with five, Pajac with four, and Ibo with three.

Buaya, Gun-ob, and Santa Rosa each had two beneficiaries, while Looc and Poblacion each had one recipient.

The city government said the assistance is aimed at promoting self-sufficiency among qualified residents while supporting livelihood activities in various communities.

Mayor Ma. Cynthia “Cindi” King Chan said the Sustainable Livelihood Assistance Program will remain active to allow more Oponganons to access capital for income-generating projects.

Residents who wish to apply for upcoming assistance cycles must submit a Certificate of Indigency, Barangay Residency, Voter’s Verification Certificate, a government-issued ID, and an approved project proposal.

The requirements must be submitted to the CSWDO Livelihood Unit at Lapu-Lapu City Hall for evaluation and processing. (CEBU NEWS)
