Go eyes stronger fire safety

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go is urging the public to remain vigilant against fire hazards following the Aug. 21 blaze that displaced 221 families and killed four in Pasay.

Go and his staff provided on Monday immediate aid to victims at the Padre Zamora Elementary School.

Cash, grocery packs, snacks, vitamins, water containers, shirts, pens, bags, basketballs, volleyballs and pickleballs were distributed.

Select recipients received a bicycle, mobile phone, watch and shoes.

As principal author and co-sponsor of the Bureau of Fire Protection Modernization Act, Go stressed that strengthening the BFP must go hand in hand with educating communities on fire prevention.

Go has requested coordination with state agencies to ensure that qualified victims can access additional assistance.
