3 missing fishermen rescued off Mindoro

MANILA, Philippines — Three fishermen earlier reported missing in the waters off Occidental Mindoro have been rescued, according to the Philippine Coast Guard.
The PCG said fishing boat captain Mark Anthony Asilum, 29, and his crewmebers – Dennis Asilum, 53, and Emmilio Tacuyan, 58 – went on a fishing venture on board the F/B Cassandra on Monday.
The fishermen encountered strong waves and winds, which damaged the rudder of their boat.
The boat drifted away until it was spotted by patrolling members of the Bantay Dagat who informed the PCG and the local disaster risk reduction and management office.
The fishermen were brought to the port of Sablayan in Barangay Poblacion where they were given medical attention.
Meanwhile, a yacht ran aground in Mabini, Batangas on Monday.
Strong waves and winds reportedly battered the M/Y Anastacia, causing the mooring line of the boat to snap.
The yacht drifted toward the shore until it hit ground.
