3 Korean divers rescued off Batangas

MANILA, Philippines — Three South Korean divers have been rescued in the waters off Verde Island in Batangas after they drifted away from a diving activity in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro, the Philippine Coast Guard reported yesterday.

The PCG said a search and rescue operation was launched after the divers failed to return to Canyon Reef in Barangay Sinandigan on Aug. 11.

The operator of a speedboat that brought the divers to the dive site called for assistance.

The Koreans were found in the waters off Barangay San Agustin on Verde Island by crewmembers of the M/V FastCat M19 and Paradise Diving Boat 4. They were transported to Barangay Sabang.
