Metro Manila flooding snarls traffic

MANILA, Philippines — Heavy downpours and flooding caused by a low-pressure area  and monsoon rains snarled traffic in various parts of the metropolis yesterday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said.

The MMDA monitored traffic congestion along EDSA from Muñoz to Bansalangin, New York to Ortigas, Shaw to Buendia and Ayala to Magallanes.

Motorists experienced traffic gridlocks from Tramo to Taft Avenue and from Benin to 8th streets due to road works.

Traffic buildup was also recorded on EDSA from FB Harrison to Taft Avenue, Magallanes to Buendia, Guadalupe to Ortigas, Santolan to Aurora, Quezon Avenue and Balintawak.

The MMDA said a gridlock occurred at the Quezon City Memorial Circle due to flashflood. Traffic was also snarled on Marcos Highway, Airport Road and Roxas Boulevard.
