18 ‘bagmen’ to face more raps – Trillanes

MANILA, Philippines — More charges will be filed against the 18 self-styled bagmen of fugitive Zaldy Co and their lawyer Levito Baligod, former senator Antonio Trillanes IV said yesterday.

Aside from cyberlibel and perjury, other charges could be filed against them, Trillanes said.

“More to come,” Trillanes posted on Facebook.

Ten charges will be filed against the 18 men and Baligod: six for cyberlibel and four for perjury, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said.

The 18 men had claimed they delivered cash-filled suitcases to numerous state officials, including President Marcos, as part of an alleged flood control kickback scheme.

While they have implicated Trillanes and other personalities, the 18 men have also retracted some of their claims.

Baligod will file a motion for reconsideration, claiming that DOJ prosecutors “erred on the cyberlibel (charges since) there is no proof that any one of us ‘posted on social media’ the joint affidavit of the 18 men.”
