ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A suspect in the murder of a couple in Sumisip town, Basilan was arrested yesterday, just hours after shooting the two near a rubber plantation.
Police said rubber tappers Saturani Bancil and his wife Muhayyara Samsawi were shot in the head at a grassy portion of Sitio Batuh in Barangay Limbu-Candis.
Lt. Col. Gerwin Maghuyop, 32nd Infantry Battalion commander, said suspect Mani Bancil fled toward Barangay Bukut Umus in Tabuan Lasa town.
A combat group pursued and arrested the suspect.
