MANILA, Philippines — Thousands of runners are expected to participate in the Pru Pop Run set in August, which will celebrate Pru Life UK’s 30th year in the Philippines.

Celebrating their 30th year in the country, Pru Life UK has opened the registration to the fun run, which features race distances for participants from all walks of life.

There will be 3-kilometer, 5-kilometer, 10-kilometer and 21-kilometer categories, and a special 30-kilometer event.

“It’s a milestone run for us. As we celebrate PruLife UK's 30th year in the Philippines. So Pru Pop run is more than a race for us, it brings to life our grand promise, the promise of protection in an active, meaningful, and more engaging way which is beyond conventional,” Kats Cajucom, head of brand and integrated marketing communications, said.

“We wanted to marry protection with the joy, the vibrancy and the nostalgia of pop culture and spread it to more Filipinos so that they can enjoy it in one meaningful celebration,” she added.

Atty. Calvin Kohchet-Chua, the chief legal, government relations and sustainability officer of Pru life UK, said that the run is a celebration of a “shared purpose” of the insurance business.

“As we mark our 30th anniversary here in the Philippines, we would like to be reminded that protection is not just financial security, but it's also helping Filipinos live healthier, more resilient, and more purposeful lives,” he said.

“It brings individuals, friends, family, colleagues, and the communities together so that they can support each other and embrace daily habits that contribute to building a better life,” he added.

According to Cajucom, they are expecting about 5,500 participants in the race.

Special awards are also set to be given to the top three finishers, although details on these are to be announced on the day of the race itself.

There will also be pop culture themes during the race, according to Princess Galura, the president and managing director of Sunrise Events.

With this, the medals of the run will feature pop culture references. The 3-kilometer finishers will have medals in the shape of smartphones; the 5-kilometer finishers, an analog TV; the 10-kilometer finishers, a camera; a 21-kilometer finisher, a cassette player; and the 30-kilometer finishers, a game console.

The run will be on August 30 at the Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati.
