MANILA, Philippines — A suspected debris from a rocket launched recently from China was recovered yesterday on the shore of Bisukay Island in Cuyo, Palawan.
In a post on social media, the Philippine Coast Guard said the PCG Eastern Palawan Station received a report at around 6:46 a.m. about an object that washed along the shore of Barangay Balading.
A PCG team was deployed to verify the information. With the help of barangay officials, the team secured the debris.
“A technical assessment and validation will be conducted by the Maritime Security and Law Enforcement Group-Palawan to determine the identity and origin of the object,” the PCG said.
In a previous advisory about the launch of a rocket from China, the PCG warned the public not to approach, touch or retrieve any suspicious floating or washed-out object as this might pose serious hazards.
The public was told to immediately report to the nearest PCG station any sighting of rocket debris.
