DOT taps TikTok content creators for tourism promos

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Tourism (DOT) and social media platform TikTok partnered yesterday to boost local tourism promotions through a travel content series, Wanderlust Week.
The mini-reality travel show, which premieres today, will consist of seven episodes with TikTok personalities Renée Dominique, Léah Good Vibes, Mark Odea and Mike Yu as they travel to popular destinations, including Manila, Cebu and Siargao.
Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay said the partnership underscores the role of digital platforms in shaping travel decisions.
“The way travelers discover and engage with destinations continues to evolve. Digital platforms such as TikTok provide new opportunities to reach audiences through authentic and engaging storytelling,” Angara-Mathay said.
Yves Gonzalez, public policy head at TikTok Philippines, said the series aims to complement the new domestic tourism campaign of the DOT by taking a more immersive promotion.
Meanwhile, the DOT said it would launch two P-pop groups this week as the country’s official tourism ambassadors.
