Gibo attending Singapore defense summit

MANILA, Philippines — Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro Jr. will again be joining his fellow defense chiefs and other top military leaders at a high-level regional defense summit in Singapore this week.
Teodoro will be attending the 23rd Asia Security Summit by the International Institute for Strategic Studies or the Shangri-La Dialogue starting today until May 31.
He will deliver a plenary talk on “Evolving Security Partnerships in a Fragmenting World.”
Department of National Defense spokesman Arsenio Andolong said discussions are expected to focus on emerging security dynamics, partnerships and different approaches to addressing security challenges.
Teodoro will also participate in discussions with his counterparts and stakeholders on matters of mutual interest and regional security cooperation.
Last year, Teodoro delivered remarks on “Cross-Regional Security Interlinkages,” wherein he referenced President Marcos’ keynote address during the 2024 Shangri-La Dialogue, highlighting the importance of a rules-based international order in sustaining regional stability and prosperity.
The Shangri-La Dialogue is a premier Indo-Pacific defense summit that convenes defense ministers, military leaders, policymakers and security experts to discuss key regional and global security issues.
