PDEA seizes P136 million shabu in Cebu

MANILA, Philippines — Authorities seized P136 million worth of suspected shabu from two alleged drug traffickers during a sting in Naga City in Cebu on Friday, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency announced.
The PDEA identified the two suspects only as Romy, an electrician, and Dante, a construction worker. Both are residents of Laguna.
Joel Plaza, PDEA-7 director, said operatives seized 20 vacuum-sealed packs of shabu during the sting in Barangay Uling.
He added that three cellphones, a sedan and other pieces of non-drug evidence were also seized.
Plaza said the operation was conducted along with members of the Philippine Coast Guard Intelligence Group, Naval Forces Central, Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group and the Naga City police office.
Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against the suspects.
If convicted, the accused could face life imprisonment and fines of up to P10 million.
