BACOLOD CITY , Philippines — A police officer was killed while two others were wounded during an anti-narcotics operation in La Castellana, Negros Occidental on Monday.

M/Sgt. Davy Carampatana died from multiple stab wounds after he was allegedly attacked by the suspect, identified as Edward Acupan, 41.

Cpt. Michael Munez, La Castellana police deputy chief, and Cpl. Gerson Guache were taken to a nearby health facility for treatment of stab wounds.

Munez was transferred to the Doctor’s Hospital in Bacolod City for further treatment, according to Lt. Col. Joem Malong, spokesperson for the Negros Island Region.

Investigation showed that Acupan reportedly attacked the team with a bladed weapon, allegedly with the help of his mother.

Acupan, who also suffered injuries during the incident, was taken to the La Castellana Rural Health Unit for treatment.

He and his mother were placed under police custody  pending the filing of proper charges against them.

Aside from two knives, police said they recovered shabu, marked money and drug paraphernalia at the scene.
