Taguig rolls out flu jabs for seniors

MANILA, Philippines — To help prevent pneumonia among the elderly, the city government of Taguig yesterday launched a two-week flu vaccination drive for senior citizens.
Free jabs will be available until May 22, except on weekends.
Each barangay has a designated vaccination area, the list of which is available on the city’s social media accounts.
Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano said the initiative was launched as the flu season nears.
“There are a lot of deaths recorded due to pneumonia from June to July. We don’t want that to happen in our city. So we are doing a proactive measure to ensure that our seniors are protected,” Cayetano said.
The initiative targets to vaccinate over 120,000 registered senior citizens against flu, city hall said.
