CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — Police officers helped a pregnant woman deliver her baby boy at a transport terminal in Iligan City on Wednesday morning.

Members of the Iligan City police station 1 responded after receiving reports that a pregnant woman was experiencing labor pains at the Integrated Bus and Jeepney Terminal East in Barangay Hinaplanon.

The woman was in the final stage of labor when Chief M/Sgt. Marc Claro and Cpl. Grace Bautista arrived.

The officers managed to catch and prevent the infant from falling to the floor.

Ten minutes after the baby was born, emergency responders from the city disaster risk reduction and management office arrived to transport the woman and her baby to the Gregorio T. Lluch Memorial Hospital.

Police said that Claro and Bautista’s prompt response and decisiveness ensured the safety of both mother and child.
