Tax evasion raps baseless – Roque

MANILA, Philippines — Former presidential spokesman Harry Roque yesterday called baseless the tax evasion complaints filed against him, his wife and an associate before the Department of Justice.

The cases were filed by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).

“We strongly oppose the criminal complaints filed by the BIR against me, my spouse and our legal counsel Percival Ortega,” Roque posted on Facebook.

The BIR alleged that Roque, his wife and Ortega’s Biancham Holdings and Trading Inc. failed to pay taxes totaling more than P3.35 million.

Roque said he would address the allegations through legal remedies.
