MANILA, Philippines — First Lady Liza Marcos yesterday warned the public against scammers using her name to deceive people.

“I have received several messages from friends seeking to verify text exchanges allegedly coming from me. To be clear: these messages are not from me,” Marcos said in a post on Facebook. “There are people impersonating others and attempting to solicit money through deception.”

She urged people who receive any messages claiming to be coming from her not to engage and share personal information.

“Let’s not give space to those who exploit trust and spread fake news,” Marcos said.

The public may report to the National Bureau of Investigation-Cybercrime Division through [email protected] or call +63 (2) 8523-8231 local 3724.
