MANILA, Philippines — Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla has brushed off the latest verbal attack made by Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte against President Marcos, saying the tirade came from a person who retreats when his bluff is called.

During the launch of the Reform Alliance for Good Governance and Accountability coalition, Duterte discussed corruption in government and criticized Marcos.

Duterte reportedly said their group wanted Marcos’ head to roll, which elicited cheers from the audience.

Asked for comment, Remulla dismissed Duterte’s verbal attacks against Marcos.

“It’s still within the bounds of his rights. I wouldn’t put too much weight on the words of Baste, s…t naman ‘yan eh,” Remulla said in a message on Viber.

Last year, Duterte said he wanted to punch then Philippine National Police chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III.

Torre accepted the challenge and arranged a boxing match, with the proceeds to go to typhoon victims.

However, Duterte did not show up and Torre was declared the winner by default.

Torre led the arrest of former president Rodrigo Duterte, who is detained in The Hague on cases involving supposed crimes against humanity.
