MANILA, Philippines — San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora highlighted his administration’s flagship housing, health care and education programs during his State of the City Address on Friday.

Funding for the San Juan Medical Center increased to P634.5 million, up by 124 percent from 2019, according to Zamora.

Construction of the new San Juan Sports Center has reached the third floor and will be completed before 2027, he said.

The Salapan Integrated School will have a seven-story building, Zamora said.

A functional literacy rate of 95 percent has been achieved by San Juan, he said.

The city government gained recognition for its health and social policies, including a strict no-smoking and vaping ordinance and a “Right to Care” program that allows LGBTQ and unmarried couples to make medical decisions for their partners.
