MANILA, Philippines — Illegal e-cigarettes and vape products valued at more than P1 billion have been confiscated in Navotas City.

Bureau of Customs (BOC) agents confiscated 3,174 boxes of illicit vape products on March 21.

Warehouse representatives could face charges if they fail to submit valid documentation.

Initial findings revealed that the seized products are unregistered and lack a Philippine Standard License or import clearance.

The items are covered by the Department of Trade and Industry’s suspension order on certain brands.

“Products that are not registered and have not undergone proper testing may pose risks to the health of the people,” Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said.

Other authorities that helped confiscate the illegal vape products were the Philippine Coast Guard, Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-Manila International Container Port, local police and barangay officials.

About P61.707 billion worth of smuggled agricultural commodities, illegal drugs and other contraband were confiscated last year, the BOC said.
