P4.56 billion assorted illegal drugs torched in Cavite

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Assorted types of illegal drugs valued at more than P4.56 billion were destroyed in Trece Martires, Cavite yesterday morning.

The destruction of the illegal drugs through the thermal process started at around 9 a.m. at the Integrated Waste Management Inc. in Barangay Aguado.

Among those destroyed were 1,136.55 kilos and 657.13 milliliters of illegal substances in solid and liquid forms, respectively.

The solid illegal drugs included shabu, dried marijuana leaves, Ecstacy pills, cocaine, ephedrine and ketamine.

The illegal drugs were seized in various anti-narcotics operations conducted within two months by police and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the National Capital Region and Calabarzon.

The items also included high-grade marijuana leaves or kush and sacks of shabu found floating in the coastal areas of Palawan.
