Book early, PITX advises travelers

MANILA, Philippines — The Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) is advising travelers during the Holy Week to book their trips early, as some bus operators are “already stretching thin” due to rising pump prices.
The PITX said four bus operators have started implementing “lean” operations since Friday to save on costs, while some companies have announced that they might reduced the number of trips, if they couldn’t sustain normal operations.
“They will just choose the places where more passengers will travel so that our countrymen will not be affected,” PITX corporate communications head Jason Salvador told dzBB. “At most, there will be a cutdown, not a complete shutdown.”
Salvador said PITX is projecting foot traffic to reach three million from March 22 to April 6.
“During passenger season, it’s better if we can buy a ticket early and reserve it,” Salvador said. “But we also understand these are hard times. Not everyone has the extra budget to purchase tickets in advance.”
He added that PITX would meet bus operators again this week to finalize the number of trips per route.
