Quezon City to pilot free parking system along Timog, Morato

MANILA, Philippines — Starting Monday, the Quezon City government will test a new free public parking regulation along Tomas Morato and Timog Avenues.
According to the local government, the dry run for the implementation of the parking regulation for public parking spaces is part of efforts to improve the city’s tourism districts.
The new policy allows motorists to park in public areas for up to three hours.
“After three hours, drivers must move their vehicles to another public parking spot,” the city government said in Filipino. “If the vehicle remains parked for more than three hours and has not been moved, the driver will be issued a violation ticket.”
City hall said parking in public areas is free and is on a first-come, first-served basis, adding that only parking attendants from the QC Transport and Traffic Management Department are authorized to issue parking tickets.
“This regulation will remain in effect until the Public Pay Parking Ordinance is enacted,” the city said.
