BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A colder than usual morning greeted residents of Baguio City yesterday after the temperature dropped to nine degrees Celsius.

Data from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration showed the temperature fell gradually before dawn, from about 12 degrees Celsius at 2 a.m. to 11 degrees at 3 a.m. and to 10 degrees at 4 a.m.

At 5 a.m. the temperature further dropped to nine degrees Celsius.

Thick fog blanketed pine trees and hilly areas early in the morning, a common sight in the city during cooler months.

Located about 1,540 meters above sea level, Baguio is known for its cooler climate compared to most parts of the country.

Temperatures in the city often drop further during the early morning hours, especially during the northeast monsoon or amihan season.

Data shows that the lowest temperature recorded in Baguio in 2025 was 10.4 degrees Celsius.
