COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Soldiers recovered 295 hand grenades from an abandoned camp of local terrorist group Dawlah Islamiya in Marogong, Lanao del Sur on Monday.

The explosives were found by troopers of the Army’s 55th Infantry Battalion in Barangay Piagolongan, according to Lt. Gen. Donald Gumiran, chief of the Western Mindanao Command.

Gumiran said the terrorist group abandoned Marogong and nearby areas after 467 of its members surrendered in 2023.

The explosives were turned over to ordnance experts for proper disposal.
