MANILA, Philippines — Security lapses at a Parañaque condominium will be probed following last week’s shooting incident.

City police chief Col. Nicolas Piñon said they would coordinate with the Regional Civil Security Unit of the Philippine National Police.

The unit regulates private security guards and privately owned firearms.

William de Guzman, the suspect in the March 4 shooting, had been evading arrest for nearly three years.

A Taguig court issued an arrest warrant for De Guzman in 2023, stemming from a homicide case in 2012.

Piñon said the warrant was uploaded to the system in February 2024.

“The warrant was served on March 11, 2024,” Piñon said. “De Guzman was not seen in the condominium and security was uncooperative.”

On Sunday, the condominium’s management said it has no record of receiving any request for assistance in serving an arrest warrant between 2023 and 2024.

Police arrested De Guzman on March 6 in Barangay Moonwalk. He allegedly killed two people and injured four others.

Authorities earlier said De Guzman had “personal grudges” against one of the victims for being too noisy.
