PSA launches e-certificate service

Josiah Antonio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Electronic copies of civil registry documents can now be accessed through the PSAHelpline.ph website, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority.

Birth, marriage and death certificates can be emailed to applicants availing themselves of the service.

Certificates of no marriage record and certificates of no death can also be requested.

“For employees, you do not have to travel and be absent from work because at the tip of your finger, you can apply for your e-certificate,” Deputy National Statistician Minerva Eloisa Esquivias said.

“It saves time, you no longer have to go to outlets physically, you don’t have to line up, you don’t have to commute. There’s a lot of time saved,” she added.

After paying a fee and completing the identity verification process, applicants will receive a copy of the requested documents through email.

“We signed a private key to it so when a PDF viewer uses the document and there’s tampering, there’s an alarm. It is also stated if it’s tamper-free,” said Jun Yupitin of Pilipinas Teleserv Inc.

PSA Undersecretary Dennis Mapa said they are coordinating with institutions and the private sector in promoting the service to streamline the use of civil registry documents.
